MPs and peers call for return of post-study work visa to boost UK competitiveness.
The UK risks deterring international students unless the government reinstates the popular post-study work visa, according to a cross-party group of MPs and peers.
The all-party parliamentary group on migration says in a report published today that the reform of the post-study work visa route has resulted in “significant shifts” in international student flows to the UK over the past five years. This could damage the UK’s standing in an internationally competitive marketplace, it warns, particularly given that other Anglophone competitors are developing “aggressive strategies for growth”, including by offering attractive post-study work opportunities.
