The Conservative manifesto has promised to toughen visa requirements for students, establish institutes of technology in all major cities and implement a review of tertiary education funding.
The party’s manifesto, published on 18 May, takes a hard stance on immigration. According to the manifesto, this is because when it is “too fast and too high, it is difficult to build a cohesive society”.
The manifesto divides its policy priorities into what it calls “five challenges”. These are: creating a strong economy; dealing with Brexit and a changing world; healing social divisions; quality of life for an ageing society; and capitalising on fast-changing technology.
