Skidmore says sorry to UWE over social media post

Universities minister apologises over tweet about former staff member.

Universities and science minister Chris Skidmore has apologised to University of the West of England vice-chancellor Steven West over comments about a former member of staff.

In a now deleted tweet, Skidmore said questions must be “immediately asked” at the University of the West England over comments apparently made on Facebook by Harriet Bradley which have been criticised as antisemitic, who the minister identified as a UWE member of staff. Bradley was Labour’s election agent in the Kingswood constituency where Skidmore is seeking re-election.
