National Audit Office reveals number of student buildings with flammable cladding

A third of high-rise student accommodation blocks with dangerous cladding have still not had it removed three years after the Grenfell Tower fire, according to the National Audit Office.

In a report following an investigation into the replacement of dangerous cladding with safe alternatives on high-rise buildings, the NAO said 36 of the 54 student accommodation blocks identified in the government’s cladding replacement programme had been fully remediated—meaning the cladding had been replaced—as of April 2020.
