President of the Royal Society will co-host meeting that is expected to discuss the role of science in addressing global challenges.
Today David Willetts, the universities and science minister, will host the first meeting of G8 science ministers for five years. Heads of the learned societies and academies will also attend the meeting at the Royal Society in London. Delegates are due to discuss the role of science in addressing global challenges including public health and antibiotic resistance. They are also expected to discuss: how to promote open scientific research data and transparency; and global research infrastructure.
