Harvard University has retained its rank as the most highly rated university in the world as judged by academics, according to the latest list published by THE. The second and third slots were occupied by the universities of Cambridge and Oxford, respectively, which each moved two places up the rankings. The rest of the top ten are American. Overall 12 British universities feature in top 100, up from ten last year. Germany comes third, with six top 100 institutions. The BBC says that British universities punch above their weight globally. The Daily Telegraph says that the UK is climbing up the world rankings. The Times reports that Oxford and Cambridge have enhanced their standing. The Scotsman says that the University of Edinburgh is in the top 30, as does the Herald. Degree apprenticeships are due to be announced by the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills today. The Financial Times says that the best apprenticeships are more coveted than Oxbridge degrees.
