Lacking basic skills

Students who are weak in literacy and numeracy should not go to university, suggests OECD.

Many British youngsters are ill prepared for higher education and graduate without the skills needed to succeed in life, according to a report from the OECD, whose members are rich countries and those with emerging economies. Based on a 2012 international survey, it ranks the UK lowly compared to its other members and suggests that British students should instead be taught the basics.
