More poor Scots go to university

The participation rate from neighbourhoods least likely to send youngsters to university has increased.

The rise in the number of young people going to university from the poorest areas has outstripped the richest, reports The Herald. Nevertheless those from the least deprived areas are two-and-a-half times more likely to attend university and the increase among the least affluent has boosted the life chances of just hundreds of people, it notes.
