Class anxiety

A panel discussion this week addressed the way privilege affects academic careers. Could it help explain why some postgraduate research students are stressed?

Anxiety plagues the lives of many postgraduate research students, AdvanceHE’s annual postgraduate research experience survey highlighted this week.

Postgraduate researchers were slightly more anxious than undergraduates and much more anxious than the general population.  Only 23 per cent reported being very happy with life, compared to 35 per cent of people in the UK as a whole.
