Julia Buckingham took over as president of Universities UK in August, but she has been active in its upper echelons for some time, having been elected to its board in 2014.
As Playbook got off the tube in the west London suburb of Uxbridge on our way for a chat at Brunel University, where Buckingham has been vice-chancellor for nearly eight years, one question was playing on our mind: Why would anyone want to be president of UUK?
