With next year’s teaching grant announced, we look at how universities could monetise their data

Last year, Playbook noted that the ministerial letter announcing the university teaching grant for 2019-20 was unusually early, coming at the end of February.

The timing of this year’s letter, issued on 1 January to Sir Michael Barber, chair of the Office for Students, and published by the OfS yesterday, suggests an even greater desire to get on with things—perhaps before trickier matters for higher education have to be dealt with, such as Shirley Pearce’s long-awaited review of the Teaching Excellence Framework, or what exactly to do about Augar.
