Who will succeed Mark Walport as chief executive of UK Research and Innovation?
As Chris Parr told us yesterday, the deadline for applications for the post of chief executive of UK Research and Innovation has been extended until 20 January. It was supposed to close on 16 December, and the headhunters at Saxton Bampfylde are being tight-lipped as to why the date has been put back.
Anyone who has ever run a job search and had to extend the deadline knows it is not because they could not cope with the flood of applications. Are we to assume that SaxBam has had to go back to the market to rustle up a shortlist for the job?
