What does the College of the Future mean for universities?

The nights are drawing in and you may be at home watching the Sky adaptation of Aldous Huxley’s novel about a medicated society that has traded freedom for security. Or you might have read on the BBC website from the usually reliable Sean Coughlan that rapid Covid-19 tests could get students home for Christmas.

On closer inspection, the rather breathless article tells Playbook readers nothing that they do not already know about discussions between the four nations of the UK over how to approach the end-of-term migration of students. However, the detail referred to by the headline is that Durham and De Montfort Universities are piloting quick turnaround tests, including asymptomatic cases, on behalf of the Department of Health and Social Care.
