What are the implications of the second national lockdown for England’s universities?

Higher education institutions in England will start the week by preparing for the second national lockdown, which is due to begin on Thursday. Regional restrictions are in place in areas across the UK, meaning that many will already be operating under the types of restrictions to come into effect later this week, but there is much to consider.

As Daniel Cressey reported as the news broke on Saturday, England’s universities will be permitted to open their doors during the lockdown after prime minister Boris Johnson said “our priority remains keeping people in education”.
