As the US election continues, English universities receive fresh lockdown guidance

Today is a day for anticipation. On the eve of the second national coronavirus lockdown in England, with Scotland grappling with its five-tier system of restrictions and Wales’s “firebreak” lockdown due to conclude on Monday, the world awaits confirmation of the election results in the United States.

As Playbook’s weary fingers pressed ‘send’ this morning (after a late night of election watching), the presidential race was still too close to call, with Joe Biden and Donald Trump neck and neck. In typically baffling fashion, Trump has already taken to the podium to both claim that “frankly we did win this election” and declare electoral “fraud”.
