University dropout stats show differences between ethnicities, and could Covid-19 affect grade inflation?

’Tis the last Playbook of the year and, lo, from the regulator come statistics on access and continuation, while the universities’ representative body brings glad-ish tidings on grade inflation.

First, the access stats. The Office for Students has analysed data to find out differences in the extent to which students from various ethnic groups access high-tariff and low-tariff universities, as well as science, technology, engineering and maths subjects, and how likely they are to drop out.
