Yesterday, Playbook covered two items of news that suggested a return of the student number cap could be on the cards as ministers look for a way to prevent a recruitment free-for-all following the disruption caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
There are very real concerns that with international student recruitment under threat, and A levels cast out in favour of a system of predicted grades, universities will be even more desperate than usual to bring in as many undergraduates as they can for the next academic year. This could undeniably benefit some universities more than others.
