Easing lockdown in universities will be challenging—and slow

As the UK overtakes Italy to become the European country with the most recorded deaths from Covid-19 (more than 32,000), it may seem premature to be contemplating an end to lockdown.

But members of the government’s Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies are conscious that the public will soon become impatient with strict social distancing rules—particularly when at least one member of the group has been struggling himself.
