Concerns raised over UK government plans to cap number of English students at devolved universities

As the nation falls out of lockdown in an unmanaged and barely credible way, the government has decided to “move on” with a flurry of policy announcements. One announcement expected today is a cap on the number of students from England attending universities in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Wales Online first reported the story on Friday evening. Since then, a letter from Welsh education minister Kirsty Williams to universities minister Michelle Donelan has been published, and Universities Scotland has also let its views be known.
