Universities are starting to realise that the rest of the academic year will be online
While super Thursday’s document dump by the Westminster government indicated its thinking on higher education, universities have more immediate concerns. There is a growing appreciation that campuses are unlikely to welcome back students this side of Easter.
For the majority of institutions, this means that what remains of teaching in this academic year will be online. Some universities made this call early, with the London School of Economics and Political Science stating on 5 January that it planned to move all “compulsory” teaching online for the rest of the academic year.
