The Department for Education has a new secretary of state
It finally happened. After 785 days in post, Gavin Williamson is no longer the secretary of state for education.
In the end, it was all fairly swift, with Williamson among the first to be dismissed as Boris Johnson kicked off his reshuffle after Prime Minister’s Questions yesterday. Williamson pre-empted the official announcement of his demise by tweeting what a privilege it had been to spend two years as education secretary, and then he was gone.
