Playbook meets the vice-chancellor of the University of Bristol

It sounds like the opening line of a bad joke. A prime minister, a vice-chancellor and a lettuce all start work on the same day. Who lasts the longest?

The answer is, of course, Evelyn Welch, the University of Bristol’s first female vice-chancellor, who happened to start the role at the same time as former prime minister Liz Truss began the shortest ever tenure in Downing Street.
