What does the summer term have in store for universities?

We return after our spring break to the prospect of another full roster for higher education and research. The Trinity term, as some insist on calling it, looks to be another busy, if not uplifting, one.

We continue to find ourselves in a moment of political stasis at Westminster, where the latest depths plunged by prime minister Boris Johnson are matched by a strategy of doubling down on red meat policies to discourage backbench Conservative MPs from submitting a letter of no confidence to the chair of the 1922 Committee. Events in the House of Commons while Johnson toured India last week suggest that this strategy may now be providing dwindling returns.
