
The state opening of parliament comes amid the latest news on pay and pensions
It will be Prince Charles who delivers the “Queen’s speech” at today’s state opening of parliament, after the Queen herself withdrew due to health reasons. For once, it is fairly clear that higher education will feature prominently.
We will bring the confirmation as it happens on our news pages later today, but it is a safe bet that at least two bills affecting universities will receive a mention (or, failing that, be detailed in the accompanying documentation).
