The Truss government takes shape and Jisc reports on the student digital experience
Universities wake up this morning to the news that prime minister Liz Truss has made Jacob Rees-Mogg the secretary of state responsible for UK research. Rees-Mogg was confirmed as secretary for business, energy and industrial strategy at about 9pm last night—a move that was as expected as it was feared.
Meanwhile, at about 10pm, Number 10 confirmed that Kit Malthouse had become the fifth education secretary within a year. It is just 357 days since Gavin Williamson’s last day in the role, with Nadhim Zahawi, Michelle Donelan (briefly) and James Cleverly (slightly less briefly) all holding the post since then. It really is a remarkable pace of change.
