Just when you thought messaging from the Westminster government could not get any more mixed, along comes a fresh wheeze on international students. Last night, The Times broke the news that prime minister Rishi Sunak wants Britain’s 680,000 international students to work more than their current legal limit of 20 hours a week in part-time jobs, “to shore up the economy”.
The paper says: “The idea risks running up against [home secretary] Suella Braverman’s determination to reduce the number of foreign students.” Do you reckon?
