We in the fourth estate are duty-bound to bring you news of what the major parties say in their general election manifestos. But sometimes it is right to look at what ought to be there and has been overlooked.

It is fair to say that, well, none of the things that were suggested to Playbook when we asked some of those best placed in higher education to tell us their policy priorities have made an appearance—sensible though they were.
