Higher education hunkers down as the country prepares for the general election

There is something of the calm before the storm about the news agenda just now. With two days to go until the nation heads for the polls, it is safe to assume that there will be no more election news on the higher education policy front.

We are told that if Labour comes to power, as expected, then higher education will be a “day one priority”. In reality, Playbook expects to be mentioning this pledge frequently over the next six months or so—and not because it has been acted upon.
