The chancellor of the exchequer, George Osborne, announces that restrictions on student numbers will be removed.

The limit on the number of undergraduates that universities in England can admit will be removed in 2015, George Osborne announced in his autumn statement this morning.

The chancellor announced that universities and colleges in England would be free to recruit an additional 30,000 undergraduates in 2014-15 and that the cap would be removed completely in 2015-16.
