Derry campus has yet to secure government funding, while £126m loan for Belfast on hold
No UK or Irish government funding has yet been committed to the expansion of Ulster University’s Magee campus in Derry, even though a promise to do so formed part of the deal to kickstart Northern Ireland’s assembly. While no decision has been made about the university’s request for £126 million to cover the cost of development at its Belfast campus.
In a question to Northern Ireland’s economy minister Diane Dodds, Democratic Unionist Party MLA for Foyle Gary Middleton asked what funding had been set aside for the expansion of the Magee campus in Derry.
