Hitting the mark

Institutions edge towards meeting government targets.

Scottish universities have expanded student numbers, widened access and obtained more funding from industry, according to the Scottish Funding Council’s latest annual report and accounts, published today.

Record numbers of students are now enrolled in Scottish universities. In 2012-13 enrolment exceeded the government target of 125,737 places by 10 per cent. More than a third of the expansion is due to new university places created to widen access and to invest in science and technology for economic growth.
