Scottish government fast-tracks trainee teachers

Holyrood has earmarked £1 million for accelerated courses intended to end the teacher shortage.

More than 200 new teachers are expected to enter the classroom earlier than expected, under plans to develop and expand 11 teacher training courses.

John Swinney, deputy first minister, made the announcement at the University of Dundee on 30 November. The scheme will be funded by the attainment Scotland fund.
