More than 40 students in enforced isolation following Covid-19 cases linked to freshers’ week party

Sally Mapstone, principal of the University of St Andrews, has pleaded with students not to go to parties after four students tested positive for Covid-19.

In a message to students published on 21 September, Mapstone confirmed that more than 40 students were in “enforced isolation” after the positive tests. The cases were linked to a party in a St Andrews hall of residence during freshers’ week, which broke the ‘rule of six’ on gatherings.
