Major reforms to higher education recommended for Scotland

Funding body calls for changes to teaching and research landscape

The Scottish Funding Council has made a series of sweeping recommendations aimed at supporting the sustainability of higher education as part of a review that could shake up the sector.

In the Scottish government-commissioned review, published on 29 June, the SFC said there was “no one simple answer” on how best to protect the sustainability of Scotland’s universities, “only hard choices in uncertain times”.
