Four months is not long enough for international graduates to find a job in the UK, committee is told.
Sir Andrew Witty, chief executive of pharmaceutical company GlaxoSmithKline, today told the Lords science committee committee that international students should be allowed to stay in the UK for a year after graduation. Currently international students must leave the country four months after graduating, unless they have a job which pays more than £20,300 and they have secured a new visa.
The rules are tighter than in the US, Canada, Germany, Australia and New Zealand.
