New route into nursing

Healthcare apprenticeships to be introduced.

Trainee nurses will be able to earn while they learn under an apprenticeship scheme, MPs heard on 14 December.

Speaking in a parliamentary debate on student finance and nursing, Ben Gummer, a junior minister for health services, said that the government would introduce the scheme to ensure that the introduction of tuition fees for nursing students in England did not deter older learners from becoming nurses.
