The educated woman

Female students outnumber their male counterparts in 38 of 44 countries.

Women make up more than half the young student body in most rich and emerging economies, according to figures from OECD member states and associate countries analysed by HE. Yet young men outnumber young women in the general population in every country apart from Ireland and Mexico.

The data cover students aged between 18 and 24, between 2010 and 2012, the last three years for which data are available.
