Social workers told to play nicely

Academics who teach social work have been told to collaborate much more closely with a scheme that aims to train social workers on the job.

The Joint University Council social work education committee, chaired by Samantha Baron of Manchester Metropolitan University, and the organisers of Frontline, a fast-track graduate recruitment programme modelled on Teach First, and have been told to write to parliament setting out how they propose to work together.

MPs on the Commons education committee made the request in a report on social work reform published on 13 July.
