Alcohol-free accommodation ‘could help care leavers’

Survey of care leavers says universities should offer such students more practical support

Universities should offer alcohol-free accommodation to help students who have been in care, a report published on 1 October has said.

According to research led by the University of Sheffield, while 70 per cent of students who had left care said they found it easy to make friends at university, 27 per cent said they found the culture of drinking and drug use “too much for them”.
