Social mobility charity calls for a rise in how much students can borrow
Students should be able to borrow more money through the government-backed finance system to stop them turning to commercial loans with higher interest rates, a social mobility charity has said.
Writing for the Sutton Trust, Natasha Holcroft-Emmess and Jamil Tuki—who sit on the trust’s alumni leadership board—called for the government to reintroduce maintenance grants and increase the top-level maintenance loan available to ease pressures around cost of living for students.
