Student union says diversity of UK higher education must be protected during pandemic

Any financial help for universities must not risk diversity among UK institutions, the National Union of Students has said after a broadsheet newspaper suggested some universities should be allowed to fail.

Zamzam Ibrahim, outgoing president of the NUS, urged the government to respond “positively and proactively” to calls for financial help from students and universities, but warned that any help “must come without risking the diversity of our education sector”.
