Plagiarism detection firm says WriteCheck has ‘become redundant’

A pay-as-you-go plagiarism detection service offered by Turnitin, which essay-writing firms claimed that they used to guarantee their products would not be flagged by university checks, will cease to exist at the end of the month.

The service, called WriteCheck, allows anyone to check an individual article or essay for plagiarism for a one-off fee. It checks work against the same database as Turnitin, the most commonly used detection software in UK universities, and access to the service costs about £6 per check.
