Labour Party wins student support while Conservatives fail to impress, Hepi report says

Students are increasingly throwing their weight behind the Labour Party at national elections, while student support for the Conservative Party has “flatlined”, according to the Higher Education Policy Institute.

In a report exploring students’ voting habits in UK elections over the past decade, Hepi director and report author Nick Hillman studied the 25 seats in England, Wales and Scotland with the largest student populations and compared their election results with the national picture in each nation for the 2010, 2015, 2017 and 2019 elections.
