Survey suggests long-term damage for graduates navigating the pandemic jobs market

A tough job market caused by the Covid-19 pandemic has had a “scarring” effect on graduates, according to a major survey of those who recently left university.

The Association of Graduate Careers Advisory Services (AGCAS) and the University of Southampton questioned almost 2,900 graduates between December 2020 and March 2021 who had graduated six to nine months before taking part. The researchers found that just over a quarter of these graduates had been furloughed and 15 per cent had been made redundant.
