Into the unknown

Exactly what Brexit means for universities remains unclear, but there are a number of legal precautions to consider.

The repercussions of Brexit will be different for every university. But all will face substantial challenges over the coming months and years and all will need to start considering strategies for the near and medium-term future.

The single greatest issue is uncertainty; nobody really knows what their next steps should be or when to take them. Speculation is―and will continue to be―rife, so hasty action would be unwise. The only known unknowns are the impossibility of predicting what laws and regulations will be repealed, amended or superseded as a result of Brexit, or when such changes will become effective.
