Academics, teachers and students used to be voters Labour could rely on. This is no longer the case. Instead, they are turning in their droves to the Liberal Democrats.
A recent survey by YouthSight showed that support for Labour among students had fallen by more than 30 percentage points in the past 18 months. Now, more than 20 per cent of students back the Lib Dems, roughly double the proportion from 12 months ago.
