Ambitious education plan for new country

Southern Sudan has an ambitious four-year plan to create a skilled teaching workforce who will prepare pupils for higher education.

The proposed plan, entitled Education Sector Strategic Plan, is meant to run from 2011 to 2015. Training about 8,000 teachers for both secondary and primary school is a priority for Africa’s newest state, which celebrated independence on 9 July 2011.
