Jimma University epidemiologist is a publishing success

Ethiopian epidemiologist Amare Deribew has contributed to 11 articles in BioMed Central’s open-access journals since article fees were dropped nearly three years ago to encourage research from low-income countries.

Deribew, based at Jimma University, the country’s first community-oriented higher learning institution, is among 850 scientists from 13 low-income African states who have used the waiver to increase their publication rate.
