Rwanda academia uses 1994 genocide to refocus efforts

The National University of Rwanda (NUR) holds many lessons for other African universities recovering from violence, whether it was recent, as in Kenya, or longterm, as in South Africa.

With its current focus on research and PhDs, it’s sometimes hard to remember that about 500 staff and students at the NUR were slaughtered in the 1994 genocide.
