Dentist sworn in as Kenyan education secretary

Jacob Kaimenyi, a dentist and former deputy vice-chancellor of the University of Nairobi, is Kenya’s new cabinet member for education, science and technology.

He was one of 16 technocrats sworn in on 15 May as cabinet secretaries.

The appointment of technocrats signals a shift in Kenyan policy, which in the past was dominated by the appointment of career politicians to top posts.
